Stories Are Infrastructure

By Alex Okoroji

The Storytelling Ecosystem™ is built upon a simple belief: stories are infrastructure. They give people a way to understand an organization, interpret its decisions and locate themselves within its purpose.

Every organization already operates inside a story. Employees, customers, communities, journalists, investors, partners and competitors all contribute to it. Leaders shape the conditions in which those stories emerge through the choices they make and the experiences they create.

Purpose gives stories meaning. Narrative gives purpose language. Content gives narrative expression. Experiences make stories tangible. Communities sustain stories. Trust gives stories credibility. Influence expands their reach. Impact asks whether meaningful change follows.

This perspective places storytelling within organizational design. It connects communication with leadership, culture, strategy and human behavior. The practical task is to align the story an organization tells with the organization people actually encounter.
